美國馬里蘭州第一大城巴爾的摩發生近50年來最嚴重的暴動，28日警方與國民兵部隊進駐驅離抗議群眾，並實施宵禁，街頭秩序大致恢復。總統歐巴馬譴責暴民所為跟抗議無關，而是犯罪。

歐巴馬表示，近日數名非裔男子在警方執法中喪生，形成「慢慢發展的危機」。但他說，巴市暴動「沒有任何正當理由」，搶劫商家的暴民應視為罪犯。歐巴馬指出，「他們做的不是抗議，亦非陳述主張，全然是偷竊」。

巴爾的摩市長勞林斯─布雷克宣布實施宵禁前，前往抗議群眾聚集的十字路口，懇請他們回家。晚間10時宵禁生效後不久，穿戴鎮暴裝備的警察在西巴爾的摩北大道與賓夕法尼亞大道交叉口，下令數百名街上逗留的抗議群眾解散。西巴爾的摩是27日動亂最嚴重的地區。

警方在推特表示，在北大道與賓夕法尼亞大道交界處，朝激進群眾發射辣椒噴霧彈。成排警察開始前進時，示威群眾丟擲水瓶並嘲笑警察，還撿起煙霧罐朝警方丟去。警方直升機也在空中命令群眾離開。幾分鐘內人台灣銀行企業貸款群就散開。

巴爾的摩上一次大暴動並有國民兵進駐是在1968年，起因為非裔人權牧師馬丁路德．金恩牧師遭暗殺。
